This too offers a wonderfully broad range of classic Chablis elements that include mineral reduction, iodine, ocean breeze and quinine on the citrus-infused nose. The racy, detailed and beautifully textured and focused flavors deliver outstanding length on the balanced, saliva-inducing and sneaky long finish. This is also quite classy and if not quite as complete as the Preuses at present, the track record this wine has of developing superb depth over time gives it the slight edge at this early juncture.

This is perennially one of my favorite wines and one that I buy virtually every vintage. The 2013 version displays a deft touch of oak that again is sufficiently subtle as to allow the ripe and very fresh white and yellow orchard fruit, sea breeze and iodine scents to shine. There is excellent punch as well as fine detail to the almost aggressively mineral-driven flavors that possess good power but also a lovely sense of refinement on the wonderfully long and impeccably well-balanced finish. Exquisite.

Wine Enthusiast

Bougros produces rich wines, and this wine comes from the extra-ripe vineyard at the base of the slope. It is generous, giving a weighty character with the flavors plumbing the depths of richness. On top, a beautiful, almost sweet acidity leaves a fresh feeling in the mouth.

Wine Advocate

The 2016 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Cote de Bouguerots has a very intense, quite mineral-driven bouquet with flint aromas developing all the time in the glass as it gains intensity. The palate is well balanced with fine salinité on the entry. I appreciate the vivacity of this grand cru—there is plenty of energy locked in here and an edginess on the finish that is very appealing, notwithstanding the prolonged spicy aftertaste. Superb.

Broad, powerful flavors of lemon, lanolin and quinine ride the bracing structure to a long, stony conclusion. Shows balance and length, building from start to finish.

Vinous

Very pale green-tinged yellow. Classic Chablis scents and flavors of white peach, ginger, oyster shell, iodine and flint. Highly concentrated, tactile wine offering an impression of strong dry extract and a compelling combination of pliancy and energy. A very powerful, structured Chablis with a long, chewy, saline finish. really saturates the palate without leaving any impression of weightiness. Offers splendid potential.

Vinous

The 2018 Chablis Bougros "Côte Bouguerots" is well-defined on the nose. Quite stony and terse at first, it opens with orange rind and crush pebble scents. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, tight and energetic with a zesty, minerally finish. This meliorates in the glass, ending up quite nuanced and tensile.

Decanter

Côte Bouguerots is a cooler site down by the Serein River, with precipitous slopes of 45 degrees. An intense grand cru, with concentration from very low yields (25hl/ha), this displays a distinct savoury edge. It's a very fine, persistent wine, with a very long future ahead.

A cool and highly restrained nose reluctantly offers up its array of citrus, tidal pool, quinine and oyster shell. The exceptionally rich, even opulent, medium-weight plus flavors also brim with sappy dry extract on the mineral-driven, powerful and remarkably long finish. This is perhaps slightly less elegant than it typically is, but it is most impressive all the same.

A pure essence is comprised by notes of white flowers, citrus, mineral reduction and a gentle application of wood. The racy, intense and equally refined middle weight flavors are also super-saline while exhibiting superb length on the balanced, youthfully austere and very dry finale. This is excellent and a wine that should also age effortlessly.
