Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos Domaine 2014

A broad ranging and wonderfully elegant array features notes of spice, green apple, grapefruit, lemon rind and copious Chablis elements. Remarkably for a wine that is gorgeously refined, the medium-bodied and concentrated flavors are even more powerful than those of the Bougros and Valmur, all wrapped in a superbly complex, saline and balanced finish where the citrus character telegraphed by the nose reappears on the explosive finale. There is a bit of wood in evidence but I doubt that it will take very long before it is fully integrated. In sum, this is one to strongly consider.

James Suckling

This is in stunning form in 2017, showcasing the kind of symphonic complexity of primary fruit and effortless power that makes it so revered. Limes and lemons, white and yellow peaches, some apples and shaved fennel, fresh chalk and fresh flowers, too. The palate has such seamless and unwavering linearity, driven by contained acidity that delivers a wake of fleshy, white-peach, lime and lemon-curd flavor. So long, seamless and fresh. This is an exceptional Clos. Drink or hold.

As it was from
cask last year this remains quite closed but aggressive swirling liberates ripe aromas of sea breeze, pear, lemon rind, oyster
shell and mineral reduction plus an abundance of typical floral scents. The large-scaled flavors are overtly powerful and
impressively concentrated as there is plenty of palate staining dry extract that also buffers the very firm acidity that supports
and shapes the gorgeously precise finish. This explosively long effort possesses exquisite balance and the tightly wound

Decanter

"Earlier this spring, the 2002 Les Clos from William Fèvre was showing at its peak. The wine is produced from the domaine-owned parcels that total more than four hectares in the best parts of Les Clos. Despite the south-facing site and fermentation in used casks, this can take time to open. Nearly 20 years after the harvest, the bright green apple and lime aromas accented with verdant mineral and saline notes and underscored by exotic spices are expressive and nuanced, while the once-powerful body and imposing acidity have softened to a supple glow." - Charles Curtis MW

Vinous

The 2018 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a beautifully defined bouquet of subtle lemon peel, Chinese white tea, and jasmine aromas, very discreet and nicely focused. The palate is well balanced with a discreet spicy entry, very nice weight in the mouth and a harmonious, quite persistent finish. Possible the best William Fèvre contribution to the 2018 vintage, this comes highly recommended.

Wine Advocate

Aromas of waxy lemon ring, dried flowers and peaches preface the 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos, a full-bodied, ample and muscular wine that's deep, powerful and reserved. While it's early days to make a definitive judgements, it's obviously very promising.

View From the Cellar

Due to the hail damage in the domaine’s smaller parcel in this vineyard, overall yields were only thirty-five hectoliters per hectare in 2015, but the wine has turned out utterly brilliant and is the best of the range this year at Domaine William Fèvre. The bouquet is very pure and nascently complex, delivering a magical blend of apple, pear, flinty minerality, white flowers, wet stones and a youthful topnote of citrus peel.

Vinous

Very pale green-tinged yellow. Aromas of lemon gelato, soft citrus fruits and spices are lifted by a subtle floral topnote. Suave and thick but weightless. Less expressive by far than the Bougros but more penetrating thanks to solid mineral-driven acidity. Superb tension in the mouth. Very subtle and dry, with the saline, grapefruity finish going on and on. Didier Seguier will bottle the 2014 grand crus in December and January.

Wine Enthusiast

All the Fèvre vines are at the top of
this vineyard, giving very structured, long-lived wines. This is certainly an age-worthy wine, tightly coiled and nervy, with a strong mineral note at its heart. Lemon and quince flavors are caught up in the complex structure.

Wine Enthusiast

"A subtle nose on this wine evokes chalk made moist with ripe Amalfi lemon juiciness. The palate plays these twin notions off each other in a subtle, fresh way, despite the concentration and depth. This wine is cool and zesty at its core but generous and light-footed at the surface. Allow this to calm down and come forth with its compelling core." - Anne Krebiehl MW
