Subtle zestiness insinuates itself on the subtle cornmeal notes of this wine's nose. More air reveals fresh green-pear peel. The palate comes in with ripeness and pervasive citrus freshness. Bright and juicy, the wine has gentle but zesty concentration and fresh resonance. -- Anne Krebiehl MW

"This is really bright and clear with sliced apple, pear and stone. Some chalk, too. It’s linear and tight. Pretty length and freshness. Drink now."

Wine Spectator

Peach, apple and lanolin aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this white. Vivid and mouthwatering, it leaves a chalky feel on the finish. Best from 2021 through 2028.

Chablis Grand Cru Bougros “Côte Bouguerots” 2021

September 2022

Vinous

The 2021 Chablis Bougros “Côte Bouguerots” Grand Cru, which was cropped at just 17hl/ha this year, has an intriguing bouquet with hints of peach skin and honeysuckle, the precocity of this parcel seeping through as it opens up. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, quite linear with hints of orange pith and even a dab of ginger towards the spicy, energetic finish.

View From the Cellar

Given how superb the 2015 “regular” Bougros is this year from Domaine Fèvre, I have very high expectations for the Côte de Bouguerots and they were not disappointed! The bouquet is deep, complex and very refined, delivering a fine constellation of green apple, pear, lime, crystalline, chalky minerality, spring flowers and a bit of flintiness in the upper register. On the palate the wine is very pure, full-bodied and utterly svelte in profile, with a rock solid core, great cut and grip and outstanding focus on the long, pure and seamlessly balanced finish.

Vinous

The 2020 Chablis Bougros “Côte Bouguerots” Grand Cru comes from two south-facing parcels on steep, sunny inclines. Proximity to the river keeps nighttime temperatures lower, maintaining acidity. The intense nose features lemon thyme, crushed pebbles and sea spray scents. The palate sports a minor reduction, but there is fine depth here along with a keen line of acidity. Touches of white peach and nectarine emerge toward the minerally finish. Very fine.

This is also completely classic and even more aromatically complex with a plethora of sea shore nuances to the cool green fruit scents. On the palate this is dense, powerful and quite serious with brooding flavors that brim with dry extract that buffers the firm acid spine on the intensely mineral-driven and explosively long finish. This is the biggest wine in the range yet impeccably well-balanced and if not exactly refined, then certainly not rustic either. If this can add even more depth than I am projecting my predicted score will seem to be overly conservative.

"Hazelnut-like smokiness folds itself around lemon notes on this wine's creamy nose. The palate comes in with rounded pear, portraying the juicy ripeness of 2018 but grounding it in layered, yeasty, chalky and smoky depth. Oaky nuttiness adds extra dimension while lemon freshness makes for luminous length." - Anne Krebiehl MW

Wine Advocate

The 2014 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côte Bouguerots has an extremely focused, mineral-dense bouquet that is "vrai Chablis." There is a strong marine influence here. The palate is fresh and vibrant with lemon zest, lime, minerals and a crescendo of power toward the finish. Around 70% is vinified in oak and matured for six months before transferring into stainless steel, and this fills out, adds volume to the finish. There is a pleasant bitter note right on the finish. This should be superb.
