Bouchard Père & Fils | Burgundy, France
Good full red, if a bit troubled by the recent racking. Offers distinctly darker fruit aromas than the villages Savigny, along with menthol and pepper accents. Then softer but more concentrated on the palate, with flavors of blackberry, menthol and licorice. Finishes spicy and firmly tannic. The yield was just under 35 hectoliters per hectare here, according to winemaker Frédéric Weber but just 5 in 2016 owing to the terrible late-April frost.
