Subtle, musky aromas of pear, spices and flowers. Silky and suave, conveying a subtle sweetness leavened by lovely citrus lift and floral energy. This is smooth and approachable today: will it close down in the bottle and go through a dumb phase?

Wine Advocate

The 2017 Beaune 1er Cru du Château Blanc displays aromas of green orchard fruit, blanched almonds and white flowers, followed by a medium-bodied, elegantly delicate palate with good concentration and a saline finish. Supple and open-knit, it will drink well in its youth.

(a blend of five 1ers totaling over 10 ha that include Tuvilains, Aigrots, Sur les Grèves Les Cras and Sizies).
More prominent wood can be found on the ripe aromas poached plum, citrus and a similar note of apple compote. On the palate the medium-bodied flavors are also quite rich and generous with good underlying tension on the agreeably dry finish.

Vinous

The 2017 Beaune du Château Blanc 1er Cru comes from 10 hectares over five different Premier Crus. It has a pretty apricot blossom and white peach bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The fresh palate is a little oaky on the entry - just 15% though, and that will be absorbed. The well-defined, commercially savvy finish shows a touch of brioche on the aftertaste.

While more discreet I still wouldn’t describe the oak regimen as subtle on the notably ripe dark berry fruit, earth and sandalwood scents. There is excellent volume to the medium weight flavors that possess admirable mid-palate concentration that helps to buffer the moderately firm tannic spine. This isn’t especially elegant but in contrast to a number of wines in the range that are clearly in need of bottle age this should be accessible earlier.

Peaches on the nose with an edge of spiced toffee. The palate has a very plush and fleshy feel with plenty of fruit delivered into the finish.

Decanter

This Beaune premier cru is blended across five different lieux-dits totaling 10ha, including Les Aigrots, Les Tuvilains, Les Teurons, Sur les Grèves, and Les Sizies. Fermented and aged with 15% new casks, which marks the wine a bit at this point. The fruit character is more ripe apple and butter than citrus; all the same, the wine has good freshness to bring it into balance on the palate. The wood should fade with time, making this a wine for mid-term cellaring at least..

Attractive sliced cooked apple with vanilla and light toast aromas follow through to a medium body with firmness and freshness. Bright and flavorful. Drink now.
