Grand Cru Echezeaux 2013

Rich and succulent, offering cherry, raspberry, floral and spice aromas and flavors. Stylish, picking up a mineral element as this winds down on the long aftertaste. Fine balance.

A markedly spicy nose is again not super fresh but neither are the aromas of plum, violet and Asian tea dull. The middle weight flavors possess slightly better freshness than the nose while displaying lovely delineation on the stony and lightly austere finish where a hint of bitter cherry arises.

A background application of wood does not interfere with the clear expression of the well-layered mix of various dark berry and plum scents that display top notes of spice and floral hints. There is good volume to the suave and seductive yet entirely serious middle weight plus flavors that quickly firm up before terminating in a wonderfully lingering finish. This is also blessed with plenty of dry extract that, like the Suchots, should allow it to drink well early if that’s your preference.

The stunning floral depth to the nose is very attractive here with plenty of roses and violets, as well as ripe red cherries. Very plush, long and layered tannin weave with an expressive, fleshy and round center. There's softness, as well as a bit of cut from the 50 percent whole-cluster ferment.

Vinous

Deep red with ruby highlights. Aromas of redcurrant, chocolate and earth. Fat, silky and sweet, but with lovely sappy definition for such a lush, thick wine. Fine-grained, smooth and long on the aftertaste, but in need of time to express itself. Excellent potential here.

Wine Advocate

The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru is showing especially well, bursting with scents of peonies, blood orange, wild plums, cassis and exotic spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and expressive, it's lively and sapid, with a pretty core of fruit, bright acids, and powdery tannins. This derives from domaine holdings in En Orveaux, where Weber identifies appreciable diurnal shift as a source of freshness.

Good dark red. Aromas and flavors
of black cherry, graphite, tobacco, licorice and pepper. At once sweet and cool, conveying noteworthy energy and a strong impression
of sappy extract. The broad tannins reach the incisors on the long, laid-back finish. This is much better than the two Vosne premier crus in 2011.
