Wine Spectator

Remarkably and seamlessly complex, with a polished and refined core wrapped in silky raspberry and blueberry flavors, accented by savory spice and orange zest hints. The long finish builds toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2025.

A wine of presence and expression, impeccably structured yet elegantly layered, with evocative raspberry, rose petal and brown baking spice notes that pick up richness and tension toward fine-grained tannins.

Beaux Frères Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

December 2020

#9 - Top 100 Wines of 2020

Wine Spectator

Beaux Frères has helped set the standard for modern Pinot Noir in Oregon since its founding in the late 1980s, part of the second generation of Willamette Valley wineries. Founder Mike Etzel is not hands-on in the cellar these days, but son Mike D. Etzel and his team haven’t lost a beat. This 2018 is the wine of the vintage to date, from a year that had its challenges. The 24-acre Beaux Frères Vineyard is planted to a mixture of Pommard, Wädenswil and newer Dijon clones on a steep south-facing slope on Ribbon Ridge, a sweet spot in the Chehalem Mountains AVA.

Chevalier-Montrachet 2017

February 2019

97 Points

James Suckling

This has incredible aromatic definition with lemons, limes and grapefruit, as well as stony elements with oranges and praline. The palate has a beautifully precise feel with very bright citrus and white peaches, leading to gentle lime-marmalade and hazelnut notes to close. Super long, focused and already approachable.

Chevalier-Montrachet 2017

January 2019

94-96 Points

Vinous

Compellingly silky, rich and sweet, with its ripe citrus flavors joined by spices, wild herbs and anise. For all its early mid-palate appeal, this wine finishes classically dry and firm, with an almost tannic impression and great rising, palate-saturating length. Wonderfully classy and light on its feet, this wine boasts the strongest projection of inner-mouth aromatics of all of these 2017s to this point. –ST

Cuve 38

July 2019

95 Points

View From the Cellar

The wine offers up a beautifully complex nose of lemon, apple, warm biscuits, chalky minerality, white flowers and a nice touch of orange zest in the upper register. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with a rock solid core of fruit, very refined mousse, excellent focus and complexity and a very, very long, still quite youthful finish.

Cuvée Hemera 2005

July 2018

Decanter

This long awaited new prestige cuvée, Hemera - named after the ancient Greek goddess of daytime - is a perfectionist creation of Henriot’s villages, all Grands Crus. It's a brilliant medley of top Chardonnay from cooler Chouilly and the poised weight of Avize and Mesnil, combined with equally rigorous grand cru Pinot from north Montagne, Mailly and Verzenay. 2005 saw a cold winter, mild spring and very hot July into August, with humidity causing rot in Pinot Noir in the minor sites.

Cuvée Hemera 2005

July 2019

96 Points

View From the Cellar

The Cuvée Hemera is Henriot’s new name for their Tête de Cuvée bottling, which had previously been known as Cuvée Enchanteleurs. The wine is a fifty-fifty blend of chardonnay and pinot noir, only grand cru vineyards are used for the cuvée. The 2005 Cuvée Hemera was aged twelve years sur latte prior to disgorgement and a finishing dosage of five grams per liter. The bouquet is deep, pure and stunning, offering up a very refined blend of pear, apple, a touch of hazelnut, gentle smokiness, a very complex base of soil tones.

Grand Cru Bonnes-Mares 2018

March 2020

94-96 Points

Wine Advocate

The high point of Bouchard's red portfolio this year is surely the 2018 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru, a striking wine that unfurls in the glass with aromas of raspberries, cherries and wild blueberries mingled with suggestions of rose petals, grilled squab, incense and dark chocolate. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a multidimensional core, lively acids and a long, notably intense finish.
